How to Apply
There are several different applications to choose from depending on your situation. If you are sure which application is for you, please proceed to the menu below. If you are not sure about which one is for you, please read the descriptions below, or call us at 1-800-527-6577 and we'll help you choose.
Clarkson University will waive the $50 application fee for all students that apply online using the Common Application.
Freshman Application Checklist
We ask that you submit one of the following applications:
- The on-line Clarkson University Unconventional Application
OR - The on-line Common Application AND The Common Application Supplement Form
(The Common Application Supplement Form is required for students who apply using the Common Application)
OR - Printable Common Application and Printable Supplement
We ask that you also submit:
- Your secondary school record
- SAT or ACT results
- A personal statement describing a special interest or achievement that is important and meaningful
- One Letter of Recommendation from the headmaster or school counselor
- Two Letters of Recommendation from teachers
International Freshman Application Checklist
If you are not a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident (green card holder) and you are in high school or have never attended college before, please refer to the following guidelines.
We ask that you submit the following:
- The on-line Common Application AND The Common Application Supplement Form
(The Common Application Supplement Form is required for students who apply using the Common Application)
OR - Printable Common Application and Printable Supplement
- Official secondary school transcript, mark sheets and national exam scores (if applicable)
- One Letter of Recommendation from the headmaster or school counselor
- Two Letters of Recommendation from teachers
- SAT Reasoning Test or ACT score report
- Official TOEFL or IELTS score reports, if English is not your first language
- Completed Certificate of Finance Form
- Non-Refundable application fee of $50 in the form of a check or money order
- Personal Statement: Your application for admission must include a brief personal statement (250-500 words) describing a special interest, experience or achievement that is important and meaningful to you.
- A photocopy of your current passport
Transfer Application
If you are already in college inside or outside of the U.S., please refer to the guidelines:
- The Online Transfer Application
- REQUIRED Dean of Students Recommendation Form
- Official transcripts from each college or university you have attended (please include course descriptions if attending a college or university outside New York State)
- Two Letters of Recommendation
- Personal Statement (optional)
- $50 application fee. The application fee is waived for all applicants who apply online or participate in an on- or off-campus interview with an admission representative.
- If you are applying with less than 24 hours of college credit, an official secondary school transcript and SAT or ACT score report are required.
- A personal statement is required for students applying to Pre-Physical Therapy.
