Alumni College 2009

Alumni College 2009 on Sustainable Energy - July 7 & 8, 2009

Thank you to all alumni who came back into the classroom at Clarkson University!

The Alumni College provides alumni and friends with an opportunity to explore and discuss cutting-edge research efforts by Clarkson faculty addressing contemporary issues that impact our lives.

The first Alumni College focued on sustainable energy systems and the research that addresses the need for tackling critical global energy issues. Rising energy costs, global warming and the decline in oil supply are challenging academia to respond with long-term solutions for alternative energy. Clarkson University has a unique combination of faculty who are conducting research in a wide variety of areas related to renewable and sustainable energy.

The two-day college introduced returning alumni to four focus areas: wind energy, environmental impacts of energy systems, bio-energy energy, and solar energy systems. Participants had opportunity to discuss the subject and exchange ideas, as well as visit sites in the North Country that illustrate the technology and research discussed in the seminars.

Most participants stayed in the residence halls (Tuesday and Wednesday) and took advantage of the opportunity to meet faculty outside the classroom for informal conversation and networking.

One-and-a-half-day seminar only, including materials, meals and transportation: $125.
Additional cost for one room (double occupancy): $55 per night.

Please see the online flyer for more information.

Be sure to check us out in the months to come and find out what next year's Alumni College has in store!
Come back to campus and rediscover the joy of learning.
