Partners in Engineering

Partners In Engineering (PIE) is an enrichment program that pairs Clarkson University women with eighth grade students to teach them about engineering through a project-based learning approach.

Funded by the National Science Foundation, the overall goal of this program is to empower young women to make informed and educated choices for advanced course work and careers in engineering and technology-related fields. The program also aims to increase the number of young women entering these fields.

Students gain a greater understanding of the holistic nature of engineering problem-solving, and how a technical career impacts many different aspects of life. In addition, PIE hopes to impact and positively alter the attitudes of all students with particular emphasis on females toward participation in science, math, engineering and technology-related activities, and to encourage them to consider further study in these subjects.

Additional extracurricular activities provide girls the opportunity for leadership and mentoring within the safety and support of a peer group.
