OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

Provide secretarial support for the Office of Undergraduate Admission. Manage front desk procedures including phone inquiries and guest schedules. Represent the Admission Office to internal and external constituencies and facilitate inquiries and questions directed to admission personnel.

WORK PERFORMED

Must schedule and help coordinate campus visits by prospective students and their families, including preparation of confirmation letters, admission interviews, faculty appointments, campus tours and class visits.

Greet visitors to the Admission Office and seek to provide a cheerful, comfortable environment for all guests.

Assist as necessary with coordination of on and off campus special recruitment activities such as campus group visits, open house, and off-campus interviews.

Utilize with a high degree of accuracy the admission office PeopleSoft computer systems. Enter and extract prospective student data, visit data, and schedule activities.

Oversee student front desk activities and assist in student training. Work closely with campus tour guides, student host coordinator, admission counselors, and Clarkson faculty and staff to insure that each campus visit is a positive experience for our guests.

Compile and prepare special admission related reports.

Perform other support duties and assist with projects related to the admission effort as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess exceptional computer skills with proficiency in Word, Access, and Excel and a willingness to learn new systems. Experience working with a variety of personalities and professional backgrounds in an academic environment is preferred. Must possess above average interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to handle a busy, multi-functional office position and ability to work under constant deadline pressure is expected. Must appreciate working as a member of a team and function comfortably in a “team-oriented” environment. Extensive experience working independently in a customer service, quality-oriented environment preferred. A minimum of 5 years secretarial experience in a fast-paced environment is required.
