Biomolecular Science
Biomolecular Science spans the boundaries between the traditional biology and chemistry disciplines. Breakthroughs in this field have led to amazing developments in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, genetic engineering and medicine. Students are in high demand in a number of areas, including genetic engineering, forensics and medicine and the other health sciences. In fact, the biomolecular science degree program meets pre-professional requirements for medical, dental and veterinary schools, and Clarkson's own Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
Clarkson combines two distinctive strengths that benefit students: personalized teaching and high-powered research. For students, it's the best of both worlds — you're taught by professors who are noted for their research, but whose primary mission is undergraduate education. Clarkson's curriculum builds a rigorous foundation spanning a number of disciplines, including chemistry, biology, genetics, molecular biology, business and the liberal arts.
Clarkson's emphasis on real-world learning means that our students have access to co-ops and internships. Recent internships have included the Trudeau Center in Saranac Lake, Upstate Biotech in Lake Placid, and DuPont Pharmaceuticals.
In addition to the bachelor of science in Biomolecular Science, Clarkson also offers graduate degrees with concentration in the biological sciences.
