Physics

Where Can Physics Take Me?

Physics combines the abstract concepts of mathematics and philosophy with applied aspects of instrumentation and engineering. It is the foundation of the other sciences and engineering and the basis for technology. And that makes physics a very rewarding and important field of study in today's increasingly technological world.

With a bachelor's degree you enjoy possibilities in business, industry or government as a design, research or development scientist. Fields range from computers to finance. You may pursue career options in higher education. Or consider the health sciences. With the appropriate coursework in biological physics, for example, you could be on your way to medical school or to a leading career in biophysics research, medical technology, biotechnology or genetic engineering.

At Clarkson, physics can be combined with preparation for medical school or other health science careers, such as our own Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. Double majors are also possible with other sciences, such as biology, chemistry, computer science, and mathematics, or with engineering programs.

The following institutions are among those in which Clarkson graduates in physics have enrolled in recent years: Carnegie Mellon University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Princeton University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, University of California at Los Angeles, University of Illinois, University of Maine, University of Maryland, University of Minnesota, University of Rochester, University of Wisconsin.
