Accreditation

The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) accredited Clarkson University's graduate physical therapy curriculum on October 24, 2001.  The next accreditation Self-Study submission and site visit by CAPTE will be February and April, 2009.

The New York State Education Department of the University of the State of New York approved Clarkson University's graduate physical therapy program as the Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) on April 21, 1999, and the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) on May 18, 2005.

Program Outcomes

There are two primary measures of program success in educating physical therapy students, the:

  1. Passing rate of Clarkson graduates on the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE) required by all states for licensure as a physical therapist; and
  2. Employment rate of Clarkson graduates who become licensed as physical therapists.

The Commission  on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education requires that the passing rate on the NPTE, as calculated for the combined most recent three graduating classes be not less than 80%.  The NPTE pass rate for the combined recent three Clarkson graduating classes is 93.3%.

The Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education requires a statement of employment rates, as calculated for the combined most recent three graduating classes.  Employment is defined as employed as a physical therapist within six months of passing the NPTE.  The employment rate for the combined most recent three Clarkson graduating classes is 100%.
